Telemedicine Appointments

Here at Hunt Valley Animal Hospital we are always looking for new ways to improve our patient experience. We understand that it is not always possible for you to come into our office for a visit, so we have taken the appropriate steps to give you better access to the quality care you deserve. With the help of telemedicine we are able to bring our services to you, overcoming the barriers of time, distance, and even illness so that you have access to your provider when you need it most.

Telemedicine allows us to deliver a unique consultation experience to you remotely using HIPAA compliant video conferencing tools. This service allows you to connect to your provider with ease in a timely manner, and is designed with the patient in mind to be very user-friendly. Virtual consultations can be done using devices that most patients have easy access to such as a smartphone or a computer with a built-in video camera, so you won’t need to worry about having any specialized equipment. Using our telemedicine service is simple, and our friendly staff would be happy to answer any questions you may have about utilizing this service prior to your appointment.

During your virtual consultation, you will be able to reap all the same benefits of an in-office visit without the wait time, hassle, and risk of spreading germs that comes with physically being in the office. Nearly every aspect of your care can be handled virtually, including direct access to your provider, remote medical diagnosis, and education on prevention and treatment options. We will even handle the payment virtually, so you wont have to worry about coming into the office or dealing with the mail in order to settle your bill.

With the help of telemedicine we are able to transform the patient experience to one that is more convenient, cost-effective, and practical in today’s modern, fast-paced, and ever-changing society. If you have any questions about our telemedicine services or would like to schedule your virtual consultation, contact us today at (410) 527-0800.

Telemedicine FAQ

We are pleased to provide telemedicine services to our clients that may have difficulty coming into our office. For your convenience, we have provided some frequently asked questions regarding this service and how you can access care from the comfort of your home.

Do I need any special equipment for this appointment?
Our telemedicine services are specifically designed to be user-friendly and can be done using your smartphone or any other smart device with internet, microphone, and camera capabilities.

What do I need to do before my appointment?
Before you can connect with your veterinarian you will need to download the TeleTails app in the App Store or Google Play. Follow the prompts in the app to create a new account and set up the profile for yourself and your furry friends. Be sure to enable notifications from this app so you will be notified when your veterinarian begins a call.

How do I connect with my veterinarian?
Use the code HUNTVALLEY to connect with your veterinarian. You will want to log on and select “begin consultation” 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. When prompted, enter a brief update or any questions you may have for your veterinarian and click “submit.” This will give your veterinarian some time to see your notes and concerns before beginning the video consultation.

Do I need anything else for my appointment?
Just like if you were physically coming into the office, you may need a few things throughout your consultation depending on the reason for the appointment. If you have questions about something that may require your veterinarian to see your pet, have him or her nearby so that you can easily place your pet in view of the camera. The Tele Tails app also allows you to upload photos or videos for the veterinarian to see so if there is a specific area we will be discussing it may be best to take a picture or video ahead of time so we’re not taking up consultation time. It is also important to have any medication or prescription food nearby should your veterinarian have any questions regarding those items.

Is my pet eligible?
Any pet that is a current patient of Hunt Valley Animal Hospital is eligible for telemedicine. Tele Tails can be utilized for consultations/second opinions with new clients but we can not dispense any medications to pets we have never physically seen before. Tele tails is also a good resource for behavioral consultations – it allows us to see potentially problematic behavior in their own environment.

Who should I contact if I have more questions?
If you have any additional questions or need further assistance preparing for your upcoming digital appointment, feel free to contact us at (410) 527-0800. If you are struggling with the TeleTails app, you can also contact TeleTails Support at (646) 604-9236 or support@teletails.com.
