Hunt Valley Animal Hospital offers pet loss support and grief counseling with our certified counselor, Cathy Bury. Understanding and coping with the loss of a pet, or even preparing for the loss of a pet, is an experience many people deal with alone. With our assistance, you and your family members are invited to resolve each stage of grief, in order to have a more peaceful understanding of your pet’s death.
According to Cathy, “Our pets are a huge part of our lives and losing them is every bit as painful as losing a human loved one. After suffering through the loss of my 3 year old Labrador, I found there were very little options available to help with my grief. There is a real need for support for those struggling with the loss or anticipating the loss of their beloved pet.”
Pet loss support and counseling are available for adults and children. Anticipatory counseling is also available prior to the loss of a pet. Our group sessions offer an atmosphere for people to communicate and help others also struggling with their deep, emotional life change.
Group grief counseling sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month and anticipatory counseling sessions will be available by individual request. All group pet loss support sessions will be from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Hunt Valley Animal Hospital, second floor conference room. Please call 410-527-0800 or email Cathy at firstname.lastname@example.org to register for your session.
