Dr. Allan Frank, Rebecca Stillwell, CVT and Sommer Troisi performing a laparoscopic spay
Minimally invasive surgery is setting new standards for human patient care and is now being utilized at Hunt Valley Animal Hospital for your pets. Hunt Valley Animal Hospital has been using laparoscopic surgical procedures since 2004 and we are one of the few animal hospitals in the United States that use these advanced techniques. Minimally invasive surgery offers dramatic advantages to the pet patient, whereby they can be performed in place of traditional open surgeries. It involves less risk than open surgery, reduces possibility of infection and disturbs far fewer anatomic structures. Minimally invasive surgery offers the overall advantage of a much shorter recovery time, less pain, shorter hospital stay and small keyhole incisions compared to the several inch incisions used in traditional or routine surgical methods.
Hunt Valley Animal Hospital uses the same exact quality instrumentation that is used in human hospitals. With laparoscopy, a small camera and instruments are passed into the abdomen through two or three small one centimeter incisions. This allows us to easily view abdominal organs and perform many types of surgery.
Welcome to the future of veterinary medicine and surgery at Hunt Valley Animal Hospital. It is our goal to provide our clients' pets with the same care that we expect from our modern human hospitals.
